All profits from sales of the brand on Worn for Good are donated to charity partners. Peony uses compostable and biodegradable packaging throughout their supply chain. Their garment bags are made using plant-based materials such as cornstarch and wheat. These bags break down easily and can be placed in your compost bin. Additionally, their swing tags are made from recycled and FSC certified wood and their swimwear hygiene liners are made from FSC certified wood-based bioplastic, making them compostable and biodegradable. Lastly, their mini bags (that carry removable straps for our bikini tops) are made from compostable and biodegradable materials

Recycled polyester also known as rPET, is created by melting down existing plastic and re-spinning it into new polyester fiber. This fabric can be made from either post-industrial or post-consumer materials. For example, 5 water bottles yield enough fiber for one extra large T-shirt. This material repurposes existing plastic that would otherwise end up in the landfill or the ocean. 

Recycled polyester’s sustainable production requires low resources and energy to produce, and contributes low CO2 emissions. It also reduces the need to extract crude oil and natural gas from the ground to make more plastic, which is much better for the Earth.

Recycled polyester has not much difference from virgin polyester. It exhibits high strength, durability, versatility, and performance, lasting long in your closet, and surviving expected wear and tear easily.

Garments from recycled polyester aim to be continuously recycled without degradation of quality, allowing for circularity.

A synthetic material. However, instead of utilizing new materials to craft the fabric (i.e. petroleum), recycled polyester makes use of existing plastic.
