The boxes used for packaging Womsh sneakers are made of 100% recycled cardboard and lined with paper made from corn processing waste. The brand choses Favini as a partner in this green adventure because it shares the same focus on respect for the environment and the circular economy as Womsh. Favini provides them with Crush, a special type of paper for lining and for printing boxes, promotional tags and advertising materials

Womsh plants trees to offset the CO2 produced during the life cycle of the shoes. In 5 years, they have helped Lifegate create and protect more than 11,000 square meters of forest per year.

They joined the Forests Standing Tall project to protect the Amazon rainforest in Brazil: 560 hectares of Amazon rainforest, granted for use to 27 families in the San Pedro community to prevent and counteract deforestation, arson, illegal hunting and other environmental crimes

Hyper is a sustainable sneaker which strikes a romantic balance between street edge and a vintage 80s vibe. Comfortable and versatile. The White Orange version features a two-tone orange and light-blue heel counter with an embroidered Womsh logo detail. The outsole is 3 cm high.
The 6 Ws underlying Hyper’s sustainability:
1. What is it made from?
• Upper made from 70% calfskin and 30% split suede calfskin;
• The tongue is made from recycled PET obtained from post-consumer plastic bottles collected in northern Italy;
• Lining made from 30% metal-free leather and 70% recycled organic cotton;
• Fabric laces in 100% recycled PET obtained from post-consumer plastic bottles collected in northern Italy;
• - Removable insole made from 40% viscose and 60% water-based polyurethane foam and low-density polyether;
• Recyclable (TR) rubber sole in compliance with the EU REACH regulation;
• Packaging in recycled cardboard, made from 100% recycled and recyclable cellulose processed with the residue of organic substances, such as maize;
2. Where was it made?
The footwear is made entirely in Italy (this regards both materials and the assembly process).
3. Who made it?
Hyper is made by Leo and his fellow artisans at the Drop Studio srl shoe factory in Barletta (Apulia, Italy).
4. What are worker conditions like?
Leo and his fellow artisans work in complete safety. Their company is ISO9001 certified and they have signed Womsh’s Code of Ethics which guarantees both respect for the environment and for people who are part of the production process.
5. How are workers paid?
Leo and his fellow artisans earn a minimum living wage which means that they earn enough to maintain a satisfactory standard of living.
6. How does Womsh plough back part of the profits to benefit society as a whole?
Womsh ploughs back 1% of its turnover and 5% of its profits into a series of projects and initiatives. We have been contributing to a Lifegate project called ImpattoZero since 2014 through which we protect forests and create new woodland, offsetting the CO2 released into the atmosphere by our business activities. We recycle used Womsh soles to make flooring for playgrounds together with Esosport as part of the “Il giardino di Betty” (“Betty's garden”) project. Last but not least, we work alongside One Tree Planted, a non-governmental organisation which works to safeguard wooded areas, by planting 800 trees each year. And 90% of the energy we use come from renewable sources.

Recycled polyester also known as rPET, is created by melting down existing plastic and re-spinning it into new polyester fiber. This fabric can be made from either post-industrial or post-consumer materials. For example, 5 water bottles yield enough fiber for one extra large T-shirt. This material repurposes existing plastic that would otherwise end up in the landfill or the ocean. 

Recycled polyester’s sustainable production requires low resources and energy to produce, and contributes low CO2 emissions. It also reduces the need to extract crude oil and natural gas from the ground to make more plastic, which is much better for the Earth.

Recycled polyester has not much difference from virgin polyester. It exhibits high strength, durability, versatility, and performance, lasting long in your closet, and surviving expected wear and tear easily.

Garments from recycled polyester aim to be continuously recycled without degradation of quality, allowing for circularity.

A synthetic material. However, instead of utilizing new materials to craft the fabric (i.e. petroleum), recycled polyester makes use of existing plastic.

Metal free leathers are tanned and finished without resorting to heavy metals, specifically: Aluminum, Iron, Titanium and Zirconium. They are also chrome free, so a responsible choice when it comes to leather.

Metal free leathers help to keep our water unpolluted, as chrome and other substances can get into the local water supply. This alternative also contributes to avoiding soil erosion in the surrounding area and positively impacts the health of the workers that are making your products.

Additionally, organic cotton farmers do not have to expose themselves to harmful chemicals, prioritizing workers' health, the health of the people in their communities, and the natural ecosystems they operate in. 

Organic cotton is a bio-based material, making it biodegradable, fully composting after it has retired from use.

Organic cotton is a sustainable solution as it is grown without the use of pesticides, from seeds which have not been genetically modified, unlike regular cotton. It is also more sustainable for cotton farmers, protects their land and is more respectful for people.
