This expansion has in turn enabled adidas to accelerate production and expand the number of products made using our upcycled materials. Beyond apparel like shirts, socks and other performance wear, adidas produced 1 million pairs of shoes with Parley Ocean Plastic® in 2017, then 5 million in 2018, 11 million in 2019. Parley worked to develop the world’s first supply chain for upcycled marine waste and created Ocean Plastic® as a powerful symbol of change. To Rifo, sustainable fashion is the emotional one. It consists in giving value to what people wear: don't forget clothes, don't throw them away, try to repair them, readjust them for a different use. Their brand doesn't believe in sales, discounts, black Friday: they want to sell their products because people really need them and not just because of compulsive consumption

Each of Rifò's garments are made from a tradition of Made in Italy craftsmanship, which has always been synonymous with high quality

Rifò products are packaged and shipped by default through recycled cardboard packaging and plastic free materials, 100% recyclable and made in Italy. Alternatively, they offer their customers the option to choose Repack, a reusable packaging service that reduces the impact of traditional packaging by 20 times

The materials Rifò uses are innovative because they are the result of an industrial tradition and energy savings. Not only do they recycle old garments in production, but they reduce the consumption of water, pesticides and chemicals; normally used during the production. They also ban the use of harmful substances indicated by the REC

Rifò wants to do its part creating ethical garments, made by recycling fibers that are also as natural as possible. On average, in their one-year production they use 92% of fibers from recycled materials and only 8% of virgin fibers. They also try to go towards zero waste production, minimizing the leftovers using them for new collections and limited editions

Depending on which item, Rifò uses the made to order way of producing in order to avoid waste. This means that they will start producing your item only once you have ordered it. 

Each of Rifo's products are made in Prato Italy, less than 30 km away from the brand's homebase

DETAILS
Anni recycled cotton shawl is woven with a jacquard loom, for this reason it is double face and it can be worn on both sides. This patchwork damask bicolor fabric has multiple stitches and weaves, that give three-dimensionality and movement to this colorful shawl. Also the logo is woven with jacquard technique.
DIMENSIONS: 200 x 70 cm
COMPOSITION: 100% cotton, of which a variable percentage from 45 to 60% is recycled
WASHING CARE: To take better care of Rifò shawls, we suggest to wash them at 30° with a gentle cycle. In case of ironing keep the iron far from the label, which is made in recycled polyester and it could get demaged by the heat.

ORIGIN
Rifò recycled cotton shawls are made with a recycled cotton yarn from textile pre-consumer waste. They are woven in Prato in Enrico's workshop, using a Jacquard loom.
The recycled cotton yarn we use is GRS (Global Recycled Standard) certified. The virgin part, on the other hand, it is produced according to the  BCI (Better Cotton Initiative)  standards, which aims to protect the communities and ecosystems where cotton is produced.

For every purchase on our online shop, we donate € 2 to the social impact project Nei nostri panni, cenciaiolis to be. Every donation will finance the training of young people coming from the local immigrant reception activities.

The patchwork cotton shawl Anni

Recycled cotton is re-purposed, post-industrial or post-consumer cotton that would otherwise become waste. For example, imagine a factory that cuts patterns for clothing out of big sheets of fabric and has all the in-between pieces to discard. The scraps of such cut and sew facilities are post-industrial cotton “waste” that have the capacity to be recycled. Post consumer waste is material discarded after someone uses it. 

Recycled cotton’s production process saves resources and energy to create, because their raw material already exists! It gives discarded cotton a purpose, keeping material in the loop for longer, contributing to circular fashion.

Recycled cotton comes from the soft and fluffy part of the cotton plant. It is a lightweight material that is durable, making it a wardrobe staple, and can last in your closet for years to come.

Recycled cotton can be recycled again and again, creating a new recycled cotton clothing. It is also a bio-based material, making it biodegradable, so it can fully decompose when it has grown too old to be recycled again.

Recycled polyester also known as rPET, is created by melting down existing plastic and re-spinning it into new polyester fiber. This fabric can be made from either post-industrial or post-consumer materials. For example, 5 water bottles yield enough fiber for one extra large T-shirt. This material repurposes existing plastic that would otherwise end up in the landfill or the ocean. 

Recycled polyester’s sustainable production requires low resources and energy to produce, and contributes low CO2 emissions. It also reduces the need to extract crude oil and natural gas from the ground to make more plastic, which is much better for the Earth.

Recycled polyester has not much difference from virgin polyester. It exhibits high strength, durability, versatility, and performance, lasting long in your closet, and surviving expected wear and tear easily.

Garments from recycled polyester aim to be continuously recycled without degradation of quality, allowing for circularity.

A synthetic material. However, instead of utilizing new materials to craft the fabric (i.e. petroleum), recycled polyester makes use of existing plastic.

You can return the item purchased for free within 60 days of receiving it. You could either receive a refund or exchange the item for another one. The return/exchange shipping costs are paid by Rifò for countries belonging to the European Union. For the remaining countries, the return costs are charged to the customer.
