The RÆBURN Parachute A5 Sling W/B has been RÆMADE using original parachute canopies which have been over-dyed in the UK to achieve a textured and lightweight crinkle and then meticulously deconstructed and reconstructed at the RÆBURN Lab in East London. A signature material for the brand since its first collection in 2009 which featured a range of outerwear constructed from one military parachute, the brands logo which consists of four coloured segments (Sand, Camo Green, Orange and White) also is inspired by and mirrors the C9 Parachute Canopy.

Upcycling, also known as creative reuse, is the process of transforming by-products, waste materials, useless, or unwanted products into new materials or products of better quality and environmental value. 

Upcycling artists are inspired by the textile waste they see, which is almost an unlimited resource at this point. They create with the intention to use what is already here. This process is important in the circular fashion movement, because it makes use of discarded textiles, giving these materials second lives. 

Because discarded textiles are not typically sheets of fabric, but rather articles of discarded clothing, a lot of creativity is required to transform materials into new fashionable pieces. This challenge is exciting for upcycling artists, as they are driven and inspired to create with what is in front of them and often don’t have much to lose in the process, since discarded materials are readily available and cheap. Because of this, upcycled clothing is often unique as each piece has been thoughtfully crafted into a new garment.

This product is made by creatively upcycling materials that would otherwise go to waste. This makes better use of resources like deadstock fabrics: leftovers from big production that are saved by re-using them.
