Discover how we select brands
Renoon aims to give you the largest amount possible of items to choose from. In order to remain true to the commitment of selecting only the most sustainable brands and products, only a determined amount of products are added at a given time.
Everyday the team of Renoon scans the web and talks with the people managing the many brands that associate with sustainability. Only those who pass the selection are shown on Renoon.com.
There is not an easy way to identify truly sustainable brands among all others. In fact, there is not an “ultimate certification” that Renoon can reference to.
Since there is always a solution, at Renoon, we have developed a framework that reflects at 100% the sustainability values and will save you from greenwashing (i.e. you will not find on Renoon a brand that claims to be sustainable even if that is not the case).
So what does Renoon look at? Find more below:
Design to be sustainable and circular:
when developing the next industry trends, designers have to keep in mind that even well-manufactured apparel has a limited lifespan. Circular fashion has to start from design. There are many variables to take into account in this phase and a well trained design team is essential.
Only best raw materials allowed
we want brands to use only the best raw materials; from traditional fibers like organic cotton and linen, to more innovative solutions like TENCEL™ (crafted from trees) and ECONYL ®. Suppliers have to be certified for sustainable practices and brands have to actively monitor them.
Positive working conditions
As we are based in EU and we want to foster development of sustainable fashion in the region, we prefer products that are manufactured in EU. If instead production is outsourced in developing countries, brands have to guarantee positive working conditions. The fashion industry of the future must respect all workers.
Sustainable production processes
We look for those companies implementing innovative production processes to reduce their footprint; this means lower CO2, and less chemicals, as well as efficient use of precious resources like water.
Brand values and transparency
Publishing reports, and sharing results of internal and external audits is the easiest way for a brand to show its commitment towards a more sustainable behavior. Information regarding a brand’s value chain are key for consumers to evaluate if a brand is doing greenwashing (making us perceive they are sustainable in the way they communicate ) or is truly committed.
