Duarte

DUARTE Brand is the first emerging sustainable streetwear brand on our list. Founded in 2016 by the Portuguese fashion designer Ana Duarte, the brand is the winner of the C.L.A.S.S. Icon 2021 Award: the annual competition for visionary creatives who combines design, responsible innovation and communication, capable of raising contemporary consumer awareness of the new values of sustainable fashion.
The aim of the brand is to create cool sustainable streetwear, producing items from factories’ deadstock, repurposing fabrics from older collections into new ones, being selective on what textiles to use, and more.
The latest collection from DUARTE, named Reef, takes inspiration from the undiscovered cities of the Great Barrier Reef, which is sadly full of a growing number of bleached corals. According to Fucking Young, DUARTE’s mission is to raise awareness of this through the use of recycled and organic cotton, marine plastics recycled by the Seaqual Initiative, technological fabrics, and shades of coral. Make sure to follow them on the app to stay up-to-date with any releases!
RÆBURN

Next, we have RÆBURN. Established in 2009, by Christopher Raeburn, the brand defines itself as “a collaborative, creative fashion studio where daily design meets responsible production, alongside monthly events, discussions and workshops.”
According to their official website, the British streetwear brand was born from Christopher’s ‘archaeological’ discoveries which led to his first full collection (AW10 PREPARE) using de-commissioned military stock to create limited edition outerwear for both men and women. From wool field jackets to nylon parachute canopies, each RÆMADE style is produced by meticulously deconstructing the original and reworking the materials into unique and ethical garments.
RÆBURN’s latest project is a collaboration with British heritage brand Private White V.C. The capsule features versatile menswear garments and accessories, offering one complete look that pays homage to English pride, clearly inspired by military references. Each item captures perfectly the meaning behind streetwear: comfortable yet put-together. Fun fact: this collaboration can be #foundonrenoon!
VIRÓN

And last but not least, we have VIRÓN. Officially launched in August 2020, this Parisian footwear brand’s mission is to tackle the sustainability challenges with a 360 degree approach: to be good for the planet, people and animals.
VIRÓN offers footwear proudly made in Europe, by using vegan and PETA certified materials only, as well as recycled rubbers and as little virgin material as possible. The brand has a focus on circularity and a philosophy deeply rooted in youth and counterculture, which has allowed them to build a strong community that supports them not only for their aesthetics, but also for their sustainable efforts.
“COLLECTION 03” is their newest release, which consists of footwear made out of their signature VIRÓN apple leather, corn leather, as well as PET bottles suede, upcycled army surplus, and more. This collection is perfect for those looking for a pair of boots appropriate for the cold weather, that will definitely last a very very long time. Ps: we actually have COLLECTION 03 on the app, if you want to check it out!
To dress effortlessly cool feels good. But to dress effortlessly cool in brands that have a purpose, feels even better.
We hope that this short but sweet list of sustainable brands helps you when you really need to shop for some responsible streetwear for yourself or even for your loved ones.
