What the brand can prove
!

BATOKO consciously keeps their swimwear collection small, simple and at a much more sustainable pace that's kinder to the planet and the people that make them. This way of working allows them to focus on the individuality and longevity of each design and ensures that they never over-produce; an industry problem that's having dire affects on the environment in terms of waste. However, they believe clothing longevity cannot be determined by quality alone, but also by how it's worn, washed and dried. This is why they encourage slow and considered purchases along with proper care

BATOKO partnered with Mossy Earth, an organization tackling climate change by restoring native forests in Europe. Through careful planting of only native tree species (no monocultures), their goal is to create richly biodiverse forests that provide habitat for wildlife, are more fire resilient and naturally retain water to prevent flooding

Every year a proportion of BATKO profits goes to ocean related grassroots organisations and communities that are action-based within their specific expertise and niche. For example, their Buy One Set One Free collaboration with the National Lobster Hatchery in Cornwall is helping the European Lobster from collapse and under the sea in the French-Polynesia is a nursery table we sponsor full of coral cuttings, that the Coral Gardeners are currently nurturing back to health to transplant onto the degrading reefs. They have worked with Marine Conservation Society UK, Surfers Against Sewage, Action For Dolphins and The Ocean Project, the team behind World Oceans Day

BATOKO keeps their packaging to a minimum, meaning their orders will arrive free of individual plastics and wrapping. Their swimsuits are simply folded and slid into a paper or recycled plastic mail bag essentially working as a protective sleeve for your swimsuit during delivery, nothing more

BATOKO is a small independent swimwear brand based on the North West coast of England

BATOKO's supply chain is small because they are a small business, meaning that they can better ensure that the people making their swimwear remain safe, happy and fairly paid. They do this with regular audits and by requiring certifications from the two suppliers they work with. Both suppliers take necessary measures to avoid both environmental degradation and ensure a fair and safe working environment for all their workers. This includes; fair pay, no forced or bonded labour, no child labour or workers below the legal minimum age, decent working hours observed by law, no discrimination and equal opportunities
