2022 New Year resolutions: responsible fashion choices starting from a sustainable place

According to the UN, 2021 is among the top hottest years of planet Earth – not in a good way though! 

Their report shows how the world has warmed 1.1°C since industrialization in the 19th century – with the concentration of carbon dioxide being its biggest driver.

The fashion industry is estimated to be responsible for 8-10% of carbon dioxide emissions due to its polluting practices

Although these estimates may vary and some other stats might say something different, the fact is: global production of clothing doubled between 2000 and 2015! According to non-profit waste reduction organisation Wrap, the average number of times clothing is worn fell by 36%! And sadly, the leftovers end up being either burned or ending up in landfill…

There’s no quick fix to fashion, but there’s always the option to help by making better fashion choices, which is why this year we have a cool feature for a hot planet…

The goal is not to end fashion’s problem right away

That’s certainly impossible! But to go against a system that exploits Earth’s resources, as well as the many more problems the fashion industry has, like big brands exploiting small creative designers.

We want to give power to those brands that deserve it. And to not encourage people to shop more, but to do it (when they have to) in a smart and conscious way.
